GOD’S REASSURING LOVE

Today we hear about the challenges confronted by the faithful believers of God, not only then but also
now … which includes us. These are not meant to discourage us from being faithful to God because in
fact, today, we also hear of God’s Reassuring Love gifting us with benefits that far outweigh the
challenges if we just remain faithful to Him!
Last Sunday, we read on Jesus sending twelve disciples on their first missionary work to
proclaim the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus had already warned them on the many difficulties they will
face but today’s Gospel Reading offers the disciples consolation over the difficulties.
Jesus reminds the disciples not to fear anyone in proclaiming what He has taught them, for these
have to be inevitably proclaimed to the whole world at all costs … yet be rewarded more greatly! They
are to keep their focus on God and remember that those who can kill the body, but not the soul, do not
have the ultimate power. God does. Moreover, persecution and suffering cannot be avoided or
prevented but God knows and cares about what happens to His children. God surely takes care of them
more than He takes care of the sparrows that are worth only a few cents.
Indeed, with God’s Reassuring Love, there is no reason for the twelve disciples then, nor for us
now, to fear doing our roles in announcing the Good News to others … be it in words or in actions. Let
us focus on the love which God has already bestowed on us and the pouring forth of that love for all
eternity!

El amor tranquilizador de Dios

Hoy escuchamos sobre los desafíos a los que se enfrentan los fieles creyentes de Dios, no sólo antes
sino también ahora… que nos incluye a nosotros. ¡Estos no están destinados a disuadirlos de ser fieles
a Dios, porque de hecho hoy en día también oímos hablar del Amor tranquilizador de Dios que nos
regala beneficios que superan con creces los desafíos si tan solo nos mantenemos fieles a Él!
El domingo pasado, leímos sobre Jesús enviando a doce discípulos en su primera obra misionera
para proclamar el Reino de los Cielos. Jesús ya les había advertido sobre las muchas dificultades a las
que se enfrentarían, pero la lectura del Evangelio de hoy ofrece a los discípulos consuelo sobre las
dificultades.
Jesús recuerda a los discípulos que no teman a nadie al proclamar lo que Él les ha enseñado,
porque estos tienen que ser inevitablemente proclamados al mundo entero a toda costa… ¡pero ser
recompensado más grande! Se debe mantener su enfoque en Dios y recordar que aquellos que pueden
matar el cuerpo, pero no el alma, los cuales no tienen el poder supremo. Dios es quién lo hace. Además,
la persecución y el sufrimiento no se pueden evitar ni prevenir, pero Dios sabe y se preocupa por lo
que les sucede a sus hijos. Dios seguramente cuida de ellos más de lo que cuida de los gorriones que
valen solo unos pocos centavos.
De hecho, con el amor tranquilizador de Dios, no hay razón para que los doce discípulos de
entonces, ni para nosotros ahora de que tengamos miedo de hacer nuestro papel al anunciar la Buena
Nueva a los demás… ya sea en palabras o en acciones. ¡Enfoquémonos en el amor que Dios nos ha
otorgado y en el derramamiento de ese amor por toda la eternidad!
